The Cowan Christmas Parade has a long-standing tradition of being the symbolic kick-off of Franklin County’s Christmas season. Marty Raybon and Mike McGuire, original members of the Grammy Winning Country Music Band, Shenandoah, will serve as Grand Marshalls of the 54th annual Cowan Christmas Parade.
When country music lovers talk about the greatest groups in the genre, Shenandoah is always the forefront of any discussion. Fueled by Marty Raybon’s distinctive vocals and the band’s skilled musicianship, Shenandoah became well know for delivering such hits as “Two Dozen Roses”, “Church on the Cumberland Road”, and “Next to You, Next to Me” as well as such achingly beautiful classics as “I Want to be Loved Like That” and the Grammy winning “Somewhere in the Vicinity of the Heart” duet with Alison Kraus. Shenandoah has recorded nine studio albums (three certified gold); placed twenty-six singles on Billboard’s Hot Country Song chart and are Grammy, CMA & ACM Award Winners. The boys from Muscle Shoals have left a potent legacy at country radio with thirteen number one records.
A fitting theme in honor of our Grand Marshalls and inspired by one of their Christmas albums, the theme for the 54th Annual Cowan Christmas Parade will be “Christmas Comes Alive”. A reception and free public meet and greet will take place at the Christmas Market on Saturday, December 1, 2018 following the parade.
