Brenda Lee

The 2019 Cowan Christmas Parade Committee is proud to announce Grammy winning and International singing legend, Brenda Lee, as our Grand Marshal!  Brenda Lee’s numerous hits include the song that inspired this year’s Christmas parade theme, “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree.”  Dubbed, “Little Miss Dynamite,” Brenda Lee, began her recording career at twelve-years-old and captured audiences with her unique voice and stellar live performances.

Mrs. Lee has recorded and charted in several genres of music, including pop, rock, easy listening, country, rhythm and blues as well as gospel.  Her many hits include “I’m Sorry,” “Jambalaya,” “Fool #1,” “That’s All You Gotta Do,” “Break It To Me Gently,” “All Alone Am I,” “I Want To Be Wanted,” and, of course, “Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree,” an essential track for the Christmas Season.  

Mrs. Lee was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1997, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002, is a member of the Rockabilly Hall of Fame, the Hit Parade Hall of Fame and the Atlanta Music Hall of Fame.  She has performed for Queen Elizabeth II and has a rose named after her!

Brenda Lee has been married to Ronnie Shacklett since 1963 and they have two daughters, Julie LeAnn and Jolie Lenee, and three grandchildren, Taylor, Jordan and Charley.
